As one of the most exciting trends in computing today, 3D multimedia computing holds the greatest potential as fundamentally changing how visual information is processed and presented. For example, 3D multimedia is changing our daily lives by immersive 3D movies, TV programs, games and free-viewpoint multimedia with the ability of human-content interaction. 3D information retrieval and navigation based on multimedia computing can offer people with convenience in new-spot touring. Many believes 3D multimedia computing and modeling present a unique opportunity for the scholars from different disciplines to develop methodical approaches and (or) intelligent systems at many different levels using many different ways.
This special session is devoted to the publications of high quality papers on technical developments and practical applications around 3D multimedia computing and modeling. It will serve as a forum for recent advances in the fields of 3D multimedia processing, content analysis, search, mining, and emerging new applications, such as 3D or free-viewpoint navigation system, 3D model retrieval and design system, and personalized socio-mobile experience.
Scope and Topics: The special session of MMM 2014 invites unpublished, original research relating to all aspects of 3D multimedia computing and modeling. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
Contextual models for social media analysis
Event recognition and detection in social media
Efficient learning and mining algorithms for social geo-media analysis
3D model analysis and retrieval
3D multimedia capturing, processing, and scene reconstruction
Free-viewpoint or multi-view system with interaction and rendering
Dynamic light field analysis and processing
Organizers:
Dr. Yue Gao, National University of Singapore, Singapore.
Dr. Rongrong Ji, Columbia University, USA.
Dr. You Yang, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China.
