Effective systems for searching and linking together multimedia documents depend on a host of advanced tools and technologies from a variety of research disciplines, including multimedia indexing and storage, information retrieval, computer vision, audio processing, feature extraction and representation, machine learning, human computer interaction, and user experience and interaction design. Designing and developing such systems is complex and requires understanding in detail the interaction between users, content, and technology.
This special session aims to bring together researchers working in these various areas to promote a better understanding of how technologies, content, and users interact in these systems and how this impacts the individual technologies and research agenda in general. As such, the session welcomes high-quality papers describing original research on a broad selection of topics relevant to tools, techniques, and systems for multimedia hyperlinking and content-based multimedia information retrieval, including: multimedia feature extraction and indexing, multimedia and cross-media hyperlinking, practical systems for multimedia hyperlinking and retrieval, hyperlink and search result presentation, and user-centric aspects of multimedia systems. Particularly encouraged are papers relating to practical issues and real-world systems for linking and retrieval.
Organizers:
Dr. Kevin McGuinness, Dublin City University, Ireland. (AXES)
Dr. Benoit Huet, EURECOM, France. (LinkedTV)
