CFP: Wireless Infrastructure for Smart Grid (WISG)
In the past few years, Smart Grid has become an extremely important topic for the whole society and already created huge impacts on both industry and research community. Within Smart Grid infrastructure, wireless communication technologies and infrastructure for Smart Grid has been identified as one of the key enabling technologies for the device interconnection in generation, transmission, distribution, consumption and various renewable energy resources. Many new requirements and technical challenges are emerging such as unbalanced downlink and uplink workload, broad coverage, spectrum efficiency, large number of terminals support, low power wireless technology for sensors, etc. To enhance the wireless technologies for Smart Grid, several standardization bodies such as IEEE, TIA, 3GPP, OpenSG have built special task groups to understand the requirements, architectures and develop new wireless communication technologies for Smart Grids.
This workshop focuses on the recent progress of wireless communication technologies, systems, applications and tools in the context of Smart Grid. The scope of the workshop will include: (1) the requirements of wireless communication in different segments of the smart grids, such as throughput, latency, application access patterns, etc; (2) new progress of the architecture and system design and implementation, spectrum efficiency, low power design, security, etc; (3) engineering practices and experience in the deployment of wireless communication in smart grid (4) new applications & tools for wireless communications in smart grid.
The workshop is in conjunction with the 3rd IEEE International Conference on Smart Grid Communications (http://www.ieee-smartgridcomm.org/). Original papers are welcome on (but not limited to) the following aspects of wireless for Smart Grid:
1. Requirement and challenges for wireless system in smart grid
2. Wireless system architectures and protocols for smart grid
3. Reliability and scalability design for wireless system in field area network
4. Cognitive radio and applications in smart grid communication
5. Cross-layer optimization for wireless communication in smart grid
6. Spectrum optimization and anti-interference technology for smart grid communication system
7. Long range communication technology for transmission grid monitoring
8. Low power design for wireless system used in harsh environment
9. Challenges and potential impacts on radio access standard, such as LTE, WiMAX, ZigBee, etc.
10. Protocol optimization for wireless mesh or ad-hoc network used in smart grid communication
11. Low latency or real-time design for communication system in smart grid
12. Fusion and context analysis
13. Distributed computing and in-network computations for smart grid application.
Submitted papers must represent original material that is not currently under review elsewhere, and has not been previously published. Papers should be of sufficient depth for review by experts in the field and must have no more than five pages in 10 point Times Roman format (or equivalent font). This length includes everything: figures, tables, references, appendices and so forth. Submissions must follow IEEE guidelines for conferences. Papers must be submitted in PDF format through the EDAS conference system https://edas.info/N12473.
