One week before the 21st IEEE International Requirements Engineering (RE) Conference, one of the most traditional well-established international conferences in the SE field, also held in the PUC-Rio campus
About ELA-ES
The Latin-American School on Software Engineering (ELA-ES) will provide intensive and exciting four-days of lectures on both basic and state-of-the-art themes of software engineering covering a wide range of topics, including self-adaptive and autonomous systems, modularity, software architecture and requirements engineering. Lectures will also cover basic and advanced aspects of model-driven software development, such as models-AT-run.time, as part of the ESMod Colloquium. The school brings together undergraduate students, Master and PhD students and lecturers as well as other researchers and practitioners who are interested in software engineering and specifically the topics named above. The tutorials are given by renowned representatives of each domain of expertise. Each tutorial combines foundations, examples and advanced topics and some of them will present hands-on sessions when appropriate. Moreover, the event includes an industry panel, with discussions on applied research and the opportunities that are emerging in Latin America, with the creation of the Technological Park located at Ilha do Fundão in Rio, for example. The ELA-ES is a bilingual event, in which some lectures will be given in Portuguese and some in English.
The program of the Latin American school also features lectures and activities that will address complementary issues that are relevant to young researchers: How to plan my research agenda in Software Engineering? What has been the evolution of Software Engineering in Latin America? What are the possible academic and industry carriers after my PhD? The students of the ELA-ES are also invited to submit and present a poster about their ongoing work. Students who submit their work are candidates for receiving a travel grant for attending both the ELA-ES and ESMod.
The lecturers present at the Latin American school will provide the students with feedback on their research.
