Seamless user performance assessment is a major topic for educational Serious Games in order to ensure that desired pedagogical goals are achieved, to provide proper feedback and support adaptivity without interrupting the player’s flow experience. Devices and tools offering new interaction modalities that promise continuous user monitoring and assessment are available. However, the complex nature of individuality needs objective and systematic assessment of learner behavior and performance monitoring remains highly difficult.
The tutorial will first explain different theoretical aspects (non-invasive assessment, framework for data-collection, learning analytics and how seamless assessment can be implemented).The second part will be practical oriented, and will demonstrate the practical use of stealth assessment: Looking firstly at two demonstrators, secondly playing a game and then analyzing the outcomes based on the learning analytic embedded in the game. Finally, the tutorial will present an approach for Services to support seamless assessment
