The Ottawa Conference on Assessment of Competence in Medicine and the Healthcare Professions provides a forum for medical and other healthcare professions educators to network and share ideas on all aspects of the assessment of competence in both clinical and non-clinical domains throughout the continuum of education.
Ottawa 2014 will take place "back home in Ottawa" from April 25-29. Pre-conference workshops and Symposium submissions are now invited.
Pre-conference workshops will be held on Friday April 25 and Saturday April 26 2014, and will either be 3- or 6-hour sessions. Submissions are invited on any topic relevant to assessment in medicine or the healthcare professions more widely, including assessment for selection, curriculum evaluation and faculty development. Workshops may have one or more facilitators. One free conference registration will be awarded per workshop.? Workshop abstracts of maximum 300 words should be constructed as follows:
* Title of workshop ?
* Name and contact details of lead facilitator ?
* Names of other facilitators (if known)
* Introduction
* Content and structure
* Anticipated outcomes
* Who should attend
* Level (introductory/intermediate/advanced)
* Preferred duration (3 or 6 hours)
Symposia may address topics relating to assessment that may be controversial or where discussion is needed in order to further understanding. Submitters are invited to construct a 90 minute session to be scheduled during the main Conference consisting of up to 4 short presentations to introduce the topic. At least half of the session should consist of discussion with the audience. Abstracts of maximum 300 words should be constructed as follows:
* Title of symposium
* Name and contact details of organiser
* Names of presenters (if known)
* What will be addressed
* Format
