Emergency management is one of the most important challenges in the actual world due to effects in terms of high cost for the societal, economical and personal sides. The Information and Communication technologies has increased in the last years their importance in preventing and managing all the different aspects of an emergency scenario, even in terms of different types of emergency (i.e., natural disasters, terrorism attacks). Mobile communications are a fundamental aspect of the ICT world, by considering the set-up of an efficient mobile communication infrastructure able to cope with all the aspects of an emergency situation.
The Workshop on “Mobile Communications for Emergency Management” will be held in conjunction with IWCMC 2013. The Workshop on “Mobile Communications for Emergency Management” provides a forum for engineers and scientists in academia, industry and government to present their latest research findings in communication technologies in Emergency Management. In this workshop, we explore fundamental questions regarding the modern approach to emergency management, taking into accounts the advantages of modern communication systems and architectures.
