LSDS-IR 2013 - 10th International Workshop on Large-Scal?e and Distribute?d Systems for Information Retrieval
Topics/Call fo Papers
The 10th International Workshop on Large-Scale and Distributed Systems for Information Retrieval
http://www.lsdsir.org
Co-located with ACM WSDM 2013, February 5, 2013,Rome, Italy
Aims & Topics of Interest
-------------------------
The growth of the Web and user bases lead to important performance problems for large-scale distributed information retrieval (IR) systems. Scalability and efficiency of these systems also have an impact on their effectiveness. Consequently, scalability and efficiency in the context of retrieval systems continue to be an important topic in IR research. The LSDS-IR'13 workshop aims to bring together both information retrieval practitioners from industry, as well as academic researchers concerned with efficient and distributed IR systems. The workshop also welcomes contributions that propose different ways of leveraging diversity and multiplicity of resources available in distributed systems.
Topics of interest will include, but will not be limited to:
- Novel distributed IR applications
- Web search in the cloud: applications of cloud computing to IR
- Energy-aware processing techniques for web search
- IR algorithms on novel computing architectures
- Efficiency for feature-based models
- Efficiency and scalability in distributed query processing
- Query forwarding algorithms for multi-site search engines
- Inverted index partitioning and replication models
- Lossy and lossless inverted index compression
- Collection selection and result merging in federated IR
- Distributed web crawling
- Distributed indexing and retrieval of dynamic information sources
- Caching for search engines
- Heterogeneous distributed data integration and organization
- Evaluation of the impact of search efficiency on user satisfaction
- Retrieval models for distributed IR
- Standards and benchmarks for distributed IR
A special award will be given to the best paper.
Important dates
---------------
- Paper Submission: November 30, 2012
- Notification of Acceptance: December 28, 2012
- Camera Ready: January 11, 2013
Submission Instructions
-----------------------
The workshop calls for two types of contribution: original technical contributions (6 pages) and position papers (4 pages), both including figures, tables and references in the standard ACM conference format (http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-t...).
Papers have to present original research contributions not concurrently submitted elsewhere, and must be submitted electronically in printable PDF format.
Submitted papers will undergo a peer review process by at least three members of the program committee. The review process is single blind. At least one author of an accepted paper must register for the workshop.
Papers must be submitted at the following site:
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=lsdsir...
Accepted workshop papers will be published in online workshop proceedings. As for past editions of the workshop, the workshop chairs will consider the opportunity to organize a special issue in an international journal with extended versions of best papers.
