CEE 2014 - Special Issue on Multimedia Processing for Mobile Applications

The tremendous growth of multimedia-capable mobile devices, along with recent advances in multimedia technology, has enabled the development of intelligent multimedia applications in a ubiquitous environment, such as smart phones, mobile TV, e-health, social networking, etc. These have led to a massive research efforts devoted to applying advanced multimedia techniques to mobile systems, including media acquisition, processing, analysis, and retrieval, plus exciting new opportunities, such as location-based multimedia service, video-based behavior analysis. This special issue aims to consolidate the recent research achievements addressing broad challenges in multimedia processing technologies with emphasis on mobile applications. Both original research papers and review articles would be of great interest.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
Mobile multimedia processing systems, interactive media and immersive environments
Mobile multimedia storage, retrieval and authentication
Mobile multimedia analysis, segmentation, and tracking
Mobile multimedia processing, registration, restoration, and enhancement
Mobile multimedia applications in biomedical sciences, surveillance, social networking, ambient intelligence, etc
Submission guidelines
Papers will be evaluated based on their originality, presentation, relevance and novelty, as well as their suitability to the special issue. The submitted papers must describe original research which has not been published nor currently under review by other journals or conferences. Previously published conference papers should be clearly identified by the authors (at the submission stage) and an explanation should be provided how such papers have been extended to be considered for this special issue.
