SLR 2012 - Workshop on Standards for Language Resources - Ongoing Developments and Practical Applications
Topics/Call fo Papers
During the last years the need of automatically generated and processed linguistic resources increased dramatically. An important aspect is that the linguistic resources can be applied to different purposes. Hence, the resources should be reusable and interoperable.
However, to achieve this, some of the fundamental problems will have to be addressed, such as the standardisation of linguistic resources. With the help of standards it can be defined, for example, how the linguistic data can be created, imported and integrated in a platform-independent way. Currently the relevant standardisation activities are conducted by international working groups of the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO).
The principal goal of the workshop is to present and to inform about the current status of ISO standards in the domain of language resources and language technology, and to discuss applications of these standards.
The workshop combines more tutorial-like information dissemination that allows participants to get acquainted with the standards, with more research-oriented presentations that provide use-cases and report about experience gathered through working with the standards.
