WGIC 2012 - Workshop on Green Information and Communications
Topics/Call fo Papers
Green Information and Communications Technologies (Green ICT) offer not only a potential energy efficiency market of 800G$ per year but also the capability to eliminate up to 15% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions which represents another economic opportunity in the emerging 21st century, carbon economy. Realizing this potential will require significant technology advances in the realm of greening ICT infrastructures (including mobile and wireless communications networks) as well as in greening, through ICT, various sectors of human activity such as through intelligent transport systems (ITS).
The goal of the IEEE VTC 2012 Fall Workshop on Green ICT is to disseminate the most recent original research results and industrial advancements in Green ICT areas of particular interest to the VTS such as green wireless communications networks and intelligent transport systems. Submissions from academia, industry and government agencies sectors are expected.
The scope of the workshop includes, but is not limited to the following topics:
? Energy-efficient radio transmission technologies;
? Energy efficiency vs. carbon-emission vs. QoS trade-offs;
? Virtualization of wireless access;
? Dynamic reconfiguration of virtualized cellular networks;
? Performance metrics;
? Energy models for cellular networks;
? Collaborative power and transmission rate control in wireless networks;
? Carbon-aware and energy-aware network planning;
? Green heterogeneous wireless networks;
? Carbon emission evaluation models and methodologies for wireless networks;
? Vehicular ad-hoc and sensor networks;
? Heterogeneous vehicular networks;
? Wireless fleet management and tracking systems;
? ITS applications with positive environmental impacts.
The Workshop on Green ICT will base its reviews on the submission of a 5-page full paper.
