Special Issue on Real-Time Embedded Software for Multi-core Platforms
Theme and Scope
The ever-growing real-time embedded software provide dynamic intelligence and plays an increasingly critical role in all aspects of our lives. The real-time embedded software controls a wide variety of systems ranging from nuclear power plants and energy grids to cars and cell phones. Ensuring that real-time embedded systems operate correctly is therefore of paramount important to the preservation of our modern way of life. Despite a wide body of research and development effort, ensuring the safe and secure operation of real-time embedded software remains an open challenge. At the same time, the emergence of multi-core hardware has introduced an additional level of complexity to the computation. The technological and economic compulsion for migrating to multi-core platforms further exacerbates concurrency-related issues for real-time embedded software.
This special issue aims to foster the dissemination of high quality research in any new idea, method, theory, technique, and applications related to real-time embedded software design. The objective of this special issue is to showcase the most recent developments and research in the embedded software techniques for multi-core platforms, as well as to enhance its state-of-the-art. Original and research articles are solicited in all aspects of including theoretical studies, practical applications, new communication technology, programming methodologies, and experimental prototypes. The papers will be peer reviewed and selected on the basis of both their quality and their relevance to the theme of this special issue.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
l System design and integration methodologies
l Programming languages and software engineering
l Operating systems and middleware
l Architectures and compilers
l Models of computation and formal methods
l Scheduling and execution time analysis
l Communication protocols and fault tolerance
l Optimization of Inter-processor message passing
l Modeling and validation
l QoS management and performance analysis
