IRESSCA 2012 - International workshop on Real Engineering Solutions based on Soft Computing Approaches (IRESSCA 2012)
Topics/Call fo Papers
With the advance of information technologies, real industrial or telecommunications problems are becoming impractical to be tackled using analytics tools. For this reason, during the last decade, soft-computing approaches such as evolutionary algorithms, neural computation approaches, fuzzy techniques, etc. are increasing their importance in the mentioned fields. In addition, the potentiality of designing intelligent and autonomous self-managing systems, not requiring the human intervention on their control, is changing the perception of industrial sectors on soft-computing approaches. Some years ago, these techniques were limited to mere theoretical contributions in specialized forums. Nowadays, these approaches have emerged in a plethora of industrial sectors ? not necessarily limited to telecommunications -- as powerful real optimization tools to efficiently solve real problems, while meeting their highly-dynamic constraints, providing an efficient use of available resources.
The special session IRESSCA 2012 is conceived as a forum for researchers and engineers, from both academia and industry, to present novel and not published (nor under consideration by other conferences or journals) research results on the design and development of practical solutions based on evolutionary or bio-inspired and meta-heuristic computation, artificial neural networks and decision making techniques, among others. High-quality contributions are solicited.
The corresponding call for contributions focuses on topics related to industrial applications and academic research based on intelligent systems including, but not limited to, the following portfolio of techniques:
Evolutionary bio-inspired algorithms.
Population based approaches.
Meta-heuristics algorithms.
Fuzzy Sytems.
Data mining.
Neural Networks.
Machine Learning.
Unsupervised and Supervised Learning.
Decision Support systems.
Decision theory.
Multi-objective approaches.
Clustering techniques.
The application scope of IRESSCA 2012 goes beyond telecommunications systems to cover any real scenario where intelligent algorithms have been proven to equally balance the trade-off between performance optimality and computational complexity. However, IRESSCA 2012 is particularly interested in the following applications:
Cognitive Radio Systems.
Parallel and Distributed implementations.
Smart Grid solutions.
Intelligent Predictive systems.
Intelligent Autonomous Control and Management Systems.
Intelligent Electrical Designs.
Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks.
Satellite and Terrestrial Network Designs.
Recent advances in joint sampling and compression algorithms (e.g. Compressed Sensing).
Energy-efficient network topologies.
(Dynamic) resource allocation.
Data fusion.
Network management.
Autonomous electronics.
Other applications focused on energy efficiency in telecommunication networks or industrial applications.
