Purpose:
More and more attention has been paid to a sustainable society and its technological supports. However, sustainability requires each of us be wiser in order to save limited natural resources and yet to develop a more advanced society, which means that life-long education and learning is all the more important. For better education and learning, various learning technologies have been proposed. We have to evaluate them in a new perspective focusing on sustainability and create new, innovative learning technologies that will play a decisive role in future education and learning. The International Workshop on Learning Technologies in and for a Sustainable Society, LTSS 2012, which will be held as part of ACIS- SNPD 2012, brings together scientists, engineers, computer users, and students to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas, and research results about all aspects (theory, applications and tools) of learning technologies from a perspective of sustainability, and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted.
The workshop will cover a broad set of research topics including, but not limited to, the following:
Education Technology in and for a sustainable society
Learning support system focusing on awareness and metacognition
Educational portfolio system
Learning management system promoting awareness
Online learning system promoting awareness
Computer-human interactive system
Theoretical model of awareness and metacognition in education and training
Ontology for awareness and metacognition
Learner model focusing on sustainable learning
Learning model focusing on sustainable learning
Learning objects in and for a sustainable society
User interface promoting awareness and motivation
Social and community learning and its technological supports
