CALL FOR PAPERS
IEEE 2012 Services Workshop on Service Delivery and Team Performance in a Globalized Environment (SDTP2012)
One day between June 24-29 2012, Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA
within IEEE SERVICES 2012
Description
As globalization continues to make our world a more connected and interdependent place, we are coming to see that our choices and actions have far reaching effects technically, financially and even politically. Motivated by the desire to achieve higher profitability, IT services providers have been utilizing global resources for a portion, or entire part, of their project development and application maintenance. To maximize the benefit of globalization, deep analysis of productivity is emerging as a critical problem when considering globalization as a service solution option.
Recently, as we have gained more experience with globalization, some negative aspects of globalization, such as low productivity and satisfaction, have surfaced. In addition to cultural conflicts and language barriers, many other globalization factors also impact team performance, such as under-communication and working time alignment issues due to different vacation seasons and holidays. Global team management, ticket management and global collaboration tools are being developed to improve the efficiency of service delivery in a global environment.
The goal of this workshop is to inspire research in the information service areas of globalization. In this workshop, we invite you to submit original research ideas and results on issues concerning the influence of globalization on IT services development and maintenance.
