The 1st International Conference on Advanced Information Technology and Sensor Application (AITS 2012) will be held on February 28-29, 2012, Yuseong Hotel, Daejeon, Korea. We are pleased to invite you to submit your papers for the ‘Special Session on Spectrum Management and Cognitive Radio Networking (SMCRN)’. All papers accepted and registered will be included in conference proceedings published by SERSC. All papers accepted and registered will be included in the journal indexed by SCOPUS and SCIE after revision.
The current static allocation of spectrum is not efficient in spectrum utilization. License-free bands are already congested, and are a bottleneck for the development of future generation wireless communication. Conversely, in many cases, the licensed users only occupy the spectrum for certain durations, and the desired transmission only covers a certain geographical area.
Cognitive radio is a technology, which can search unused spectrum in licensed bands and communicate opportunistically using these white holes without interfering the license holders. However, deployment of cognitive radio is more challenging than it is assumed to be, because it is sensitive to technical, legal, and practical aspects.
In this special session, we would like to discuss about the latest research trend, achievements and future directions. Original and unpublished contributions that are not currently under review are solicited in this session. The topics of interest for the special issue include, but are not limited to:
- Government spectrum management plans, needs and initiatives
- Government DSA initiatives
- Spectrum policy status and forecast
- Regulatory policy and standardization
- Spectrum sensing tools and technologies
- Auction, pricing and other economic aspects and approaches for dynamic spectrum access
- Dynamic spectrum sharing techniques and policies
- New architecture of cognitive radio networks
- Applications and service architecture for cognitive radio
- MAC and routing protocols for cognitive radio networks
- Interoperability, interference, and coexistence of heterogeneous cognitive radio networks
- Game theory for cognitive radio networks
- Resource management for cognitive radio networks
- Models, fundamental limits, and scalability of cognitive radio networks
- Simulation and modeling of cognitive radio networks
- Cooperative sensing techniques
- Multimedia communications over cognitive radio networks
- Cross layer optimization for cognitive radio networks
- Load balancing and optimization for cognitive radio networks
- Cross-layer cognitive algorithms and protocols for distributed cognitive radio networks
- Trust and reputation management systems in cognitive radio networks
- Multicast communications in cognitive radio networks
- Multi-hop and mesh cooperative networks
- Multiple antenna techniques in cooperative networks
- MIMO in cooperative networks
- Multihop cognitive radio networks
- Spectrum handoff mechanisms
- Mobility-aware dynamic spectrum management

At least three reviewers will carefully review every submitted paper. Authors should suggest at least three potential referees with the appropriate technical expertise, although the Editor will not necessarily approach them. Please provide as detailed contact information as possible about the proposed referees (address, homepage address, phone and fax numbers and e-mail address). At least one of the suggested referees must be from a different country than the authors.
Just focus on and express your research contributions to reduce the time for review process.
Conference paper should be 2~3 pages, single column in B5 size paper.
