ETICS 2012 - Workshop ETICS 2012

The rapid evolution of Internet applications is causing major changes in carriers' business and network management. To support such demands (e.g. gaming, teleconference), telco operators have moved their business strategy to provide more application and services to both end-users and business customers. This strategy changes, strengthened by other contradictions in the Internet business model, has generated more tussles with application providers for network resources or with other Internet Service Providers. As some of these tensions have been publicly disclosed, many discussions arose worldwide around the net neutrality ? application provider asking regulation authorities to keep networks neutral and telco operator arguing the need for investment incentives. Beside, applications' needs for QoS guarantees become increasingly urgent, especially in the field of real-time interactive applications and for supporting security impediments.
The ETICS Workshop will focus on both the economic and technical issues telco operators are facing to sustain the evolutions required for the Future Internet in order to accommodate new services. These issues can be addressed at various network levels from the Control Plane (admission control, MPLS, etc.) to the service level (e.g. B/OSS).

We invite original, previously unpublished papers and research contributions in the area of economics and technical solutions for the future Internet. The accepted papers will appear in the workshop proceedings, published by Springer-Verlag, in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.
Specific topics of interests include (but are not limited to) the following:
Net neutrality,
Future Internet strategies & business models,
Investment and incentive models,
Game theory in QoS retailing,
Charging and pricing QoS-enabled services,
Competition issues with OTT (Over The Top) providers,
Convergence of end-to-end QoS guarantees across heterogeneous networks,
Network design and planning for new services,
QoS and QoE,
Routing, Resource selection and reservation under QoS constraints.

Authors are invited to submit full papers for the workshop via the EDAS Conference Management System. Only original papers describing previously unpublished, not currently under review by another conference or jounal, addressing state-of-the-art research and development must be submitted.
