Chinese Society for Music Education (CSME) was established in 1987 as a subgroup of the Chinese Education Society. It is a national music education society led by the Ministry of Education of China. There are 2900 members enrolled. The director commission of CSME is the leading organization of this society. It has 80 directors, 1 director-general, 4 vice director-generals, and 1 secretary-general. The Secretariat for the Society publishes the Chinese Music Education Journal. The current director-general is Yang Ruimin, assistant chairman of the Art Education Commission of the Ministry of Education of China. The secretary-general and vice director-general is Wu Bin, editor in chief of the Chinese Music Education Journal.
The Society has three centres: Higher Education Centre, Secondary Specialized Education Centre, Elementary and Secondary Education Centre. Every centre has an academic sub-Committee.
