CW 2012 - Symposium on Cloud Computing and the Web (CW20102)
Topics/Call fo Papers
Cloud Computing denotes the new trend in Internet services that rely on clouds of servers to handle tasks. Theoretically, this is one of the most natural form of granular computing.
The main theme of this symposium is "Web, Data and Knowledge Management in the Cloud;" recall that a granule of data often represents some knowledge. Cloud Computing allows organizations to centralize the management of software and data storage, with assurance of efficient, reliable and secure services for their users. There are many efforts of the commercialization of the cloud, such as Amazon's EC2/S3/SimpleDB,Google's App Engine, IBM's "Blue Cloud" service, Microsoft's SQL Server data services and SimpleDB. At the same time, open source projects such as Hadoop and ZooKeeper offer various software components that are essential for building the infrastructure of a cloud. Both cloud computing researchers and practioners are welcome to submit original and high quality papers on relevant topics in the field of cloud computing.
Highlights
This symposium, which is conjunction with IEEE 2012 International Conference on Granular Computing and another Symposium on Foundation and Practices of Data Mining and Learning, will be held in Silicon Valley, California. Many high-tech companies, such as IBM, Google, and Yahoo etc and several distinguished universities (Stanford, UC Berkeley and etc.) are just around the corner. Some interactions may be organized. The area now known as Silicon Valley has been a center of technological development since the 1950's. The name Silicon Valley stems from the early 1970's, when the area had become the center for many semiconductor companies. While still hosting semiconductor and microprocessor companies, the region now hosts the headquarters of high tech companies of every kind, including many of the best known and most prestigious names in personal computers, Web search, Internet auctions, networking, storage, databases, etc.
