2nd IEEE International Symposium on Sensorless Control for Electrical Drives (SLED 2011) 1st - 2nd September 2011, Birmingham, UK

It is with pleasure that we invite you to the 2nd IEEE International Symposium on Sensorless Control for Electrical Drives (SLED 2011), to be held on September 1st and 2nd 2011 in Birmingham, UK.

An international event on Sensorless Control of Electrical Drives (SLED) dates back to 2007 and for 3 years was held as Workshops in Msida (Malta), Varsow (Poland) and Barcelona (Spain). Due to popular demand, it was expanded into a Symposium, the first being held in Padova in 2010. As a Symposium, all accepted and presented papers will be published as proceedings, and may be included in the IEEE Xplore® online.

In 2011, SLED it will be held at Austin Court in Birmingham which is next door to the ICC which is the venue of the 14th Annual European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE 20110 - www.epe2011.com). SLED 2011 has been arranged to run immediately after the EPE 2011 conference and will consist of five sessions, starting mid-afternoon of September 1st and continuing all day on 2nd September.

All registrants will be invited to a dinner in Austin Court on the evening of Thursday 1st September.

SLED provides a forum for international experts to present and discuss the latest developments in the field of Sensorless Control of Electrical Drives. In doing so, it allows all engineers from industry and academia to learn of the status, trends and applications in this exciting field. Particular attention is given to Induction, Synchronous PM and Reluctance machines, with the 5-session programme spanning keynotes, regular and industrial papers.

So please join us. We would be delighted to have your input at the symposium and your contribution to discussions on present trends and opportunities in this exciting and challenging field.

Topic of interest include:

Machine model based algorithms
Signal injection based algorithms
Sensorless-oriented design of electrical motors and drives
Applications and case studies: industrial, transport, domestic
Performance issues: stability, accuracy, parameter sensitivity, fault performance
Implementation issues for sensorless control (e.g. FPGA, etc ...)
Impact of saturation, losses, eddy currents; prediction and compensation
High speed sensorless drives
Standstill and low speed drive quality
Comparison and standard tests for sensorless performance characterization
Important dates for Authors - please note that the SLED 2011 deadlines have been extended. The new dates for authors are as follows:

Closing date for Digest* submission: 17th June 2011
Notification of acceptance: 8th July 2011
Final submissions: 15th August 2011
Early Registration: 5th August 2011
* The digest should contain sufficient information to enable the selection process (e.g. min 2 sides of A4). The final submissions/presentations will form part of the symposium proceedings. Papers meeting IEEE regulations will be included in IEEE Xplore® online.

For Submission of digests and papers, and also general enquiries, email Bekki Burns ? email: rebecca.burns-AT-nottingham.ac.uk.
