WiBAN 2012 - International Workshop on Wireless Body Area Networks for mHealth (WiBAN 2012)
Topics/Call fo Papers
We would like to invite you to contribute to the International Workshop on Wireless Body Area Networks for mHealth (WiBAN 2012) to be held in conjunction with the International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC 2012) in Maui, Hawaii, USA from January 30 ? February 2, 2012.
Scope of WiBAN 2012:
The increase in average lifespan and healthcare costs have ushered in a wave of innovations in healthcare. These factors along with the advances in miniaturization of electronic devices, sensing, battery and wireless communication technologies have led to the development of Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs). WBANs consist of miniaturized computing devices (motes) that are able to gather, process and wirelessly transmit sensed data. To gather sensing data they can be attached on the outside (to clothes being worn) or implanted in the human body. They are designed such that they can monitor physiological signals and transmit these to specialized medical servers in an unobtrusive manner to the patient.
There are many aspects of WBANs that are still in the development phase. The purpose of WiBAN 2012 is to provide a venue for the sharing and distribution of research ideas and results concerned with all aspects of WBANs for medical applications.
Submission Information:
WiBAN 2012 invites contributions that describe original research, not published or currently under review for another workshop, conference, or journal. The work can be the development of new algorithms, techniques, models, position papers or case studies.
We invite papers on various aspects of WBAN for Healthcare including, but not limited to, the following:
? Security & Privacy
? Trust
? System Architecture
? Monitoring
? Power Harvesting & Power Efficiency
? Communication Protocols
? Reliability and self-healing
? Availability
? Performance Evaluation
? Laws, ethics, and policy relating to medical data privacy
All accepted and registered papers of WiBAN 2012 will be included in the IEEE Xplore database, which will be EI indexed.
Manuscript Information:
? It is required that the manuscript follow the standard IEEE camera-ready format (double column, 10-pt font) as well as the requirement set by EDAS paper submission system.
? The maximum length of ICNC paper without over-length charge is FIVE (5) pages. The authors are allowed to pay for up to TWO (2) additional pages at $150 per over length page.
? Submissions must include title, abstract, keywords, author and affiliation with email address. Corresponding author should also be identified on the first page.
? During the initial paper submission process via EDAS, the authors are required to make sure the PDF file and EDAS registration page of a paper have the same list of authors and the paper title. Be certain to add all authors in EDAS during the initial paper submission process. Failure to comply with this rule may cause a paper to be withdrawn from the review process. Once reviewed the listing of authors connected to the paper cannot be changed in the final manuscript.
? An accepted paper must be registered before the registration deadline. At least one of the authors must register and attend the workshop to present the paper.
? Papers are required to be submitted via EDAS Paper Processing System: http://edas.info//N10989. If any problem arises during the submission process please send email to Garth Crosby at garth.crosby-AT-siu.edu.
Important dates:
? Paper submission deadline: August 31, 2011
? Notification of acceptance: Sept. 30, 2011
? Registration and camera-ready paper due: Oct. 20, 2011
? Workshop dates: Jan. 30 - Feb. 2, 2012
