2019 - The impact of work value perceptions of university students undergoing tourism education on career choices

The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of work value of tourism students on their career preferences. In addition, the relationship between students’ gender, department and income status and work values were examined. The universe of the study is composed of students studying in tourism at Bingöl University. For the purpose of the study, it was aimed to reach all students and 198 of 203 students were reached and the questionnaire was completed. The research questionnaires were filled in by face-to-face interviews with students between September 2019 and November 2019. SPSS statistical program was used in the data analysis process. According to the results of the research, it was concluded that there was no significant difference between the work values and gender of the students. In addition, a significant difference was found between the meaningfulness and usefulness of the work, the work environment and autonomy and perception of family income status. In addition, a significant difference was found between the autonomy of the work value sub-dimensions and the departments where the students were educated.
Finally, it was determined that there is a significant difference between the human relations and autonomy and career choices of the students.
