icci_cc 2011 - Special Session on Biologically Inspired Sensing, Computing and Control jointly with ICCI*CC 2011
Topics/Call fo Papers
Biologically Inspired Sensing, Computing and Control
A Special Session of
The 10th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Informatics & Cognitive
Computing (ICCI*CC 2011)
http://www.ucalgary.ca/icci_cc2011/
August 18-20, 2011, Banff, Alberta, Canada
Session Brief
Recent research efforts towards modeling the mechanisms of biological
information processing systems have provided a rich source of solutions
(e.g. swarm intelligence, self-organizing systems, and intelligent sensor
networks, etc) and proven to be hopeful in solving a variety of key problems
in sensing, computing, and control. By combining the tasks of traditional
sensing, computing and control with these modern biologically plausible
models and methods, the biologically inspired approaches to the study of
such research fields offer great potential to extend our knowledge of
intelligent behavior of biological individuals or groups involved in
practical applications, and to advance theoretical models of how we solve
large scale, complex and dynamic problems, in a biologically plausible,
cognitively inspired, and behaviorally intelligent way. However, the overall
framework, theoretical modeling and practical applications to these research
fields are far from being well established and remain to be fulfilled and
enriched.
The objective of the proposed session is to gather specialists and
researchers on the list of topics mentioned below to present and discussed
their latest developments, and to bridge the gap between these fields.
Scope and Topics:
The scope of the session will be focused on, but not limited to, the
following areas:
Robotics
Intelligent Vision Systems
Multi-Agent Systems
Self-organizing Systems
Computational Intelligence
Intelligent Sensor Networks
Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering
Applications
We welcome theoretical, empirical papers, and interesting case studies that
are within the scope of this special session.
Important Dates
Full paper submission due: Mar. 31, 2011
Notification of acceptance: Apr. 30, 2011
Camera-ready paper due: May 20, 2011
Conference presentation: August 18-20, 2011
