BPMDS 2019 - Business Process Modeling, Development, and Support
Topics/Call fo Papers
This year‘s topic theme “Transformative BPMDS” is investigating the transformative effects of a number of approaches and technologies in conjunction with Business Process Modeling, Design and Support.
Artificial Intelligence fosters the automation of business processes by replacing a number of human decisions and tasks by machine-based ones. In this way, business processes are executed faster and use fewer human resources. The collection and processing of huge amounts of data provide also stronger foundations for automation.
Decentralized architectures and trust mechanisms such as blockchains and microservices enable the extension of business processes to quickly integrate new process partners.
Voice assistants (e. g. Alexa, Siri) and augmented reality significantly increase the quality and the types of interactions with users in business processes.
The Internet of Things integrates increasingly intelligent devices into business processes. They allow processes to interact with and sense their context in real-time and with great detail. At the same time, intelligent devices provide real-time status and lifecycle information These devices are no longer fixed in their functionality but can be extended using cloud services etc.
Social Information Systems support paradigms such as weak ties, social production, and egalitarian decisions. Using these paradigms, business processes can accelerate innovation and collect knowledge. In this way, they are able to replace expert-based decisions and planning and enable new business models such as multi-sided markets.
Cloud-services and mobile technologies enable the pervasiveness of business processes and independence from a geographic location.
These approaches are embedded in processes on different levels of granularity, and their use and integration from an individual case-based level to an organizational scale can be accompanied using Business Process Modeling, Development and Support activities.
