The Industry Forum 2009 November 2 Porto, Portugal

Theme: Products and directions in automation and transportation

The IEEE Industry Electronics Society is bringing you the Industry Forum 2009 on November 2nd in Porto, Portugal. This is adjacent to the IES IECON conference and all IECON attendees are guests to these presentations from industry.

Industrial and embedded technologies are growing in leaps and bounds. It is important for all of us to view how industry is using these technologies in building products and infrastructure applications. The goal of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Industry Forum is view these industry activities, understand their usage, and talk with industry leaders in their vision of industry technology needs.

The industry forum is a new series created by the IEEE Industrial Electronics society to focus on industry directions and use of emerging technologies in industry products. Traditional IES technology areas are covered including infromatics, sensors and control, robotics, factory automation and power electronics. In addition, the forum motivates discussion with applications of the same technologies into diverse usage areas such as robotics in the consumer, remote sensor control in the home, etc. This is particularly valuable to the society in building a bridge between industrial product directions and research focus. We plan to continue the Industry Forum to discuss research and product requirements among our diverse, highly international society members.

This year we focus on how products in automation and transportation are using industrial electronics technologies to create more valued and capable products.
