ISC 2011 - ISC 2011 : International Supercomputing Conference
Topics/Call fo Papers
The Scientific Sessions will be organized as afternoon sessions on Monday, June 20, Tuesday, June 21, and Wednesday, June 22. They provide first class open forums for engineers and scientists in academia, industry and government to present and discuss issues, trends and results that will shape the future of high performance computing, networking, and storage.
Important Dates
Full Paper Submission Deadline January 9, 2011
Notification of Acceptance March 1, 2011
Scientific Sessions June 20 ? 22, 2011
Paper Submission
We encourage submission of high-quality papers reporting original work in theoretical, experimental and industrial research and development in the following areas:
Architectures
-Multicore/manycore systems
-Heterogeneous systems (FPGAs, GPGPUs etc.)
-Network technology
Storage & Data
-File systems & tape libraries
-Data intensive applications
Algorithms & Analysis
-Scalability on future architectures
-Performance evaluation and tuning
Future Trends
-Exascale HPC
-HPC in the Cloud
Large Scale Simulations
-Coupled simulations
-Industrial simulations
Submissions on other innovative aspects of high performance computing are also welcome.
Full papers should be submitted via the EasyChair conference system by January 9, 2011. We only accept submissions in PDF format which are correctly formatted using the Springer LaTeX style and do not exceed 8 pages. Incorrectly formatted papers will be excluded from the reviewing process. Papers will be peer-reviewed by three reviewers and will be evaluated based on their novelty, fundamental insights and potential for long-term contribution. By submitting a paper, you agree to present the paper at ISC’11 in Hamburg, Germany; presenters need to be registered ISC’11 participants.
Proceedings
A maximum of 24 accepted papers will be published in a special edition of “Computer Science ? Research and Development”, Springer Verlag, Germany, which will be available at ISC’11 from June 20 on.
For details on the author guidelines, please refer to Springer’s website. Please use Springer's two-column LaTeX style so that the page limitation of eight pages can be checked (see "Instructions for Authors" ) "Text" ) "Text Formatting" on Springer's website for details).
The 2011 International Supercomputing Conference in Hamburg today witnessed a new king of supercomputers take the crown as the world’s most powerful. Fujitsu’s supercomputer, named simply ‘K,’ took the top title, blowing away the second place Tianhe computer from China that was the previous champ.
The Japanese computer’s name comes from the word ‘Kei,’ (10 peta or 10^16) which is a reference to the intended goal of 10 petaflops. And besides being the most powerful of all computers on the list, it is reportedly also one of the most energy efficient.
The competition requires the computers to run a mathematical equation, and according to a New York Times report K proved capable of doing 8.2 quadrillion calculations per second (8.2 petaflops).
