The objectives of the workshop are to promote good liaison and cooperation with geotechnical researchers and engineers. As an international event, it also provides a unique opportunity for exchange of experience and information about theoretical, practical and technical aspects for tackling common areas of interests in Geotechnical Engineering. The meeting is also designed to look at the development, advancement and innovative achievements in soil and rock engineering projects. 2011 International Workshop on Geotechnical Engineering (IWGE 2011) is a world forum for presentation and publication of contribution of theoretical developments, numerical modelling and experimentations in the field of soil and rock mechanics.

2011 International Workshop on Geotechnical Engineering will be held on July 23-24, 2011, Kunming, China. This conference is sponsored by Kunming University of Science and Technology, and is in cooperation with Yunnan University, Chongqing Jiaotong University and T.Y. Lin International Engineering Consulting (China) Co., Ltd.

All accepted papers will be published by the Applied Mechanics and Materials (ISSN: 1660-9336, Indexed by Elsevier: SCOPUS www.scopus.com and Ei Compendex (CPX) www.ei.org/.
