Paper submission (extended) by: February 18, 2011
A workshop to be held in conjunction with, the International Conference on Web Intelligence, Mining and Semantics (WIMS 2011), May 25th - 27th 2011, Sogndal, Norway.
This workshop aims at gathering researchers from the field of wireless networking and Internet applications to discuss new opportunities and hurdles to leverage the possibilities of new applications and services for the Internet of Things.
The new developments in this area raise many research questions: Interaction, security, collaboration, context, discovery and privacy of physical things in the virtual world are yet to be fully addressed. This workshop focuses on disseminating novel ideas and research directions in the emerging area of the Internet of Things. This is an opportunity for researchers and technocrats who work towards ubiquitous computing environments to meet and discuss the state of the art. We intend to discuss the recent developments and target researchers from academia and industry to join hands in the developments in this area. The workshop will lead to identifying new directions and setting the scope of developments in this area. The participants will be enlightened with intellectual discussions, highlighting the advances in technology that bridging the physical world and the digital world.
Specific topics of interest include (but not limited to):
â?¢ Communication systems and architectures for the Internet of Things
â?¢ Robustness of environmental management with the Internet of Things
â?¢ Future technologies bridging the physical and virtual worlds
â?¢ Business models and processes for the Internet of Things
â?¢ Impacts on the security, privacy and risks on the physical world
â?¢ Applications and interaction for social networking
â?¢ Location and discovery of things on the Internet
