With the advancement of “Internet plus” on all fronts, many traditional industries gradually step into a great era of digitization, cyberization, mobilization and intellectualization. However, the explosive growth of data and information in those processes brings serious challenges to cyberspace security. Meanwhile, the emergence of innovative network computing paradigms, such as cloud computing, IoT (Internet of Things), big data, mobile and wireless networks, lead to a lot of information security issues, which are neglected, unknown, or unable to handle for existing security solutions. Cyberspace has become the fifth national sovereign space besides the traditional four domains of land, sea, air, and aerospace. Cyberspace has become a new battlefield of security among nations.
As a product of interdisciplinary integration, cyberspace security mainly involves four layers, i.e., devices, systems, data and applications. However, existing technologies usually deal with each layer independently, and apply theories in trusted computing, cryptography and information countermeasures to solve specific security issues. However, as a complex problem, cyberspace security should be analyzed from different layers and multiple perspectives comprehensively. An overall theoretical system with methods combining qualitative computation and quantitative analysis should be built in order to ensure cyberspace security under prospective network computing environments from all aspects.
Following the success of the 2017 International Workshop on Cyberspace Security (IWCSS 2017), December 15-16, 2017, Guangzhou, China, IEEE IWCSS 2018 will be held in Guangzhou, China, October 8-12, 2018, in conjunction with the 15th IEEE International Conference on Advanced and Trusted Computing (ATC 2018). Experts and scholars from educational organizations, scientific research institutions and well-known companies nationwide and overseas will be invited to attend this workshop, to discuss the state-of-the-art challenges and future directions of cyberspace security. It will provide a communication platform for us to demonstrate novel ideas and to learn from each other.
IEEE IWCSS 2018 focuses on trust, security, privacy, safety, anonymity, forensics, fault tolerance, reliability, dependability, and availability for cyberspace devices, systems, data and applications. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
