ACM invites students to the 2nd ACM Europe Summer School on Data Science
to be held in Athens (Greece) on 12–18 July 2018.
Students will have the opportunity to attend keynote lectures (Raghu
Ramakrishnan, Microsoft CTO for Data) and multi-lecture courses by
distinguished academics and researchers (Sihem Amer-Yahia, CNRS; Daniel
Keim, U. Konstanz; Natasa Milic-Frayling, U. Nottingham; Chris Re,
Stanford U.; Yannis Theodoridis, U. Piraeus; Chris Williams, U. Edinburgh)
on several forms of analytics, machine learning techniques, big data
systems, and the ethics of data science.
The School is addressed to graduate (MSc and PhD) students, postdocs,
young faculty, and other academic and industrial researchers interested
in the diverse field of Data Science. Advanced undergraduate students
with the appropriate background will be considered as well.
Student fees are 300€. A limited number of fee waivers may be available
to applicants for whom this amount poses a financial burden.
The greatest majority of the School costs are covered by ACM and other
generous sponsors, and include attendance, lecture material, accommodation,
most meals, and social activities.
An interesting and stimulating social program will take advantage of the
historical and cultural identity of Athens and complement the technical
program of the School.
Applications are due online by the 28th of May AoE.
