Topics/Call fo Papers
The conference consists of a one-day tutorial session and a two-day scientific conference. Interested authors are kindly invited to submit abstracts through the conference website.
Authors are invited to submit abstracts relating to any of the following topics:
• Examples of applying R in statistical production.
• Examples of applying R in dissemination of statistics (visualisation, apps, reporting).
• Analyses of big data and/or application of machine learning for official statistics.
• R packages implementing statistical methodology
• R packages connecting R to other standard tools/technical standards
• Organisational and technical aspects of introducing R to the statistical office.
• Teaching R to users in the office
• Examples of accessing or using official statistics publications with R in other fields
Presentations will be about 20 minutes, including questions.
Authors may choose to also submit a conference paper. A maximum of ten selected research papers will be published in a special issue of the Romanian Statistical Review, if they pass the standard peer review process.
Abstracts, in plain text, with a maximum of about 250 words, can be submitted no later than 31 May by e-mail to the uRos2018 secretariat: uRos2018-AT-cbs.nl.
Call for Tutorial Session Proposals
The tutorial sessions are aimed to acquaint R users with packages or techniques that are interesting for official statistics. Possible topics include report generation, data editing, survey design, survey sampling, weighting and estimation, disclosure control, building and integrating production systems, and working with big data.
Tutorial presenters are expected to prepare some exercises so participants can gain hands-on experience during the session. Participants are expected to bring their own laptops.
Authors are invited to propose an abstract for a one- or two-slot tutorial session. A single slot takes about three hours, including a 20 minute coffee break.
Abstracts, in plain text, with a maximum of about 250 words, can be submitted no later than 31 May by e-mail to the uRos2018 secretariat: uRos2018-AT-cbs.nl.
unconfUROS
The uRos2018 conference will be preceded by a short two-day unconference. This event is a two-day hackathon where we develop applications for official statistics. More information can be found at the unconfUROS github page.
Partners
uRos2018 is organized at CBS in collaboration with Statistics Romania, Statistics Austria, The university of Bucharest and the Ecological University of Bucharest.
