Overview: This webinar will discuss the criteria for workers compensation premiums and the importance of experience modification ratings. It will offer insight into the 29 CFR 1904 regulations regarding recordkeeping. Attendees will be able to distinguish between recordable and non-recordable events.
OSHA recordkeeping can be a source of much distress for the employer, due to the complex nature of injuries and losses. Many of the fines for incorrect recordkeeping are over $1,000. Therefore, the employer must be aware of what types of items gets recorded in the OSHA logs. Additionally, incorrect log entries can artificially inflate the Total Recordable Injury Rates (TRIR) and the Days Away Restricted Transfer rates (DART). This can in turn increase the Experience Modification Rating (EMR) of the company and cause them to pay a higher worker compensation premium.

It is required that once an employee has an injury or illness beyond first aid, or under certain conditions, to record the incident.
