Global Technical Symposium on Communications Technologies and Enablers

URL: http://www.itu.int/WORLD2011/
Geneva, Switzerland, 24-27 October 2011

SCOPE AND MOTIVATION

ITU Telecom events have traditionally provided a global focal point for all stakeholders in the public and private sectors involved in the development of networks and services. The emphasis in the past has been on exhibitions displaying new technologies. But now ITU Telecom World 2011 brings a new focus to ITU Telecom events in which the emphasis is on networking, knowledge-sharing and consensus-building and in these activities the Technical Symposium plays a pivotal role.

The Technical Symposium at ITU Telecom World 2011 focuses on knowledge-sharing in the area of communications technologies and enablers. Whilst the application of new technologies has created a number of major challenges for the ICT sector, it is their further development to address broad issues such as interoperability and openness between devices, services and networks that will turn those challenges into opportunities.

The Technical Symposium at ITU Telecom World 2011 invites the ICT community to share information on technological developments that will define and influence the future of networks and services. Original contributions are welcomed from players across the entire ICT ecosystem and are intended to reflect current technological advances and capabilities within R&D communities as well as forthcoming commercial deployments.

Contributions that include a consideration of relevant issues in emerging economies and markets are particularly welcomed.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Authors are invited to submit review manuscripts of up to six double-column, IEEE conference-style pages. Submissions should be written in English and must represent original, previously unpublished work that is not currently under review by another workshop, conference, or journal; commercial presentations will be automatically rejected. Submissions that are regarded as recycled presentations from other events or conferences will also be rejected.

Papers must be submitted electronically through the EDAS system at http://edas.info//N9911. A short (50 word) abstract is required on registration of the submission. A review manuscript of between 1000 and 1500 words in PDF format should then be uploaded for review by the Technical Programme Committee. Only PDF files are accepted for paper review. Detailed instructions for authors on using EDAS can be found at http://edas.info/doc/authors.html. Further details for submitting papers using the EDAS system will be posted early in 2011.

All review manuscripts will be carefully evaluated on the following criteria: originality, significance, technical soundness, clarity of expression and interest to a wide audience. Accepted papers will be published in the ITU Telecom WORLD 2011 Proceedings.

At least one of the authors of an accepted paper must attend the Technical Symposium to present the paper. An accepted paper must be registered before the registration deadline. ITU reserves the right to exclude a paper from distribution after the conference if the paper is not presented at the symposium.
