Emotion and Affective Computing is one of the most attractive areas of interest for innovative human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence engineering, system application design, and brain machine computing areas. In these areas, we consider multi- or uni-modal recognition features of software and hardware that includes the detection of emotion. This data will be utilized and analyzed for recognizing human emotion and affect to apply to medical and human interfaces related services and engineering.
Particularly in recent years, the growing field is also attracting the interests of business services. These services, processes, and infrastructures need to include considerations for emotional aspects, since the resulting software systems are expected to collect related data from facial expressions, body posture, gestures, voice recognition, physiology, biological information such as that detected from EEG (electroencephalography), and brain machine interfaces to understand the human emotional state deeply, and apply these results to services to satisfy Quality of Life (QoL) issues of users.
New techniques and methodologies are needed to build better, more emotion-oriented interactions for medical care, elderly care, and artificial engineering systems, integrated to Ubiquitous Computing, Cyber Physical Systems, Cloud Computing Systems, Embedded Systems, and IoT. The aspect of Emotion and Affective computing where emotions of humans are taken into account are integrated in the whole design process and systems and services from the very first stages.
Scope of the Workshop
Researchers and practitioners from all over the world, both from academia and industry, working in the areas of affective computing, emotion related engineering, and service oriented computing are invited to discuss state of the art solutions, novel issues, recent developments, applications, methodologies, techniques, experience reports, and tools for development. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
Recognition of human affect/emotion
Synthesis of human affect/emotion
Affective/emotion interfaces
Social and behavioral science involving affective computing
Affective and social robotics and virtual agents
Affective applications
Intelligent applications considering affective computing and emotions
Biological information for affective computing/emotion
Brain machine interfaces
Educational aspects of affective computing
Emotion and affective computing related software, design, architecture, platform
