Topics/Call fo Papers

All the cities of the world suffer events of diverse nature that endanger the life of their citizens. The security forces protect public and private institutions with professionalism, but the great diversity of possible events makes it very difficult to prevent them, and above all, to plan beforehand the optimal response to each threat. Unfortunately, the current global alert situation due to the proliferation of terrorist acts, directly oriented towards citizenship, has only emphasized the need to evolve current security systems to deal with threats in the best possible way. Our response to other types of hazards, including common crime, fires, earthquakes, tsunami, civil disturbances, and many others, would also be enhanced using modern information and communication technology.
Smart cities and their citizens, infrastructure and sensor networks generate a great amount of data. This information must be processed in real-time by critical information systems and notify the citizens and/or security forces through mobile applications or actuators, promoting safety and protection for people, patrimony and a whole environment.
List of topics of interest:
-Emergency management systems and applications in Smart Cities
-Crowdsensing for emergency detection
-Data mining and machine learning techniques for emergency detection
