The 1st Annual Lecture on Exile Comparative Literature and the Arts commemorates the two millennia since the death of exiled poet Ovid here in the ancient city of Tomis.
The lecture also includes plenary sessions, workshops and roundtable discussions, and other events.
ALECLA 2018 will be preceded by AKECH 2018 and by Constanta Literature and the Arts Festival, CLAFest 2018, which will take place between July 9 and July 11.
Objective: The objective of the conference is to create dialogues exceeding the boundaries of the literary, artistic and philosophical matrix. It aims to bring together scholars and opinion leaders from different disciplines and interests, providing an opportunity for the exchange of new ideas, cross-disciplinary exploration and cross-cultural research. Therefore, disciplines and perspectives are not limited.
Organizer: Anticus Multicultural Association in conjunction with its partners.
Dates of the Lecture: The conference will take place between July 12th and July 15th, 2018.
Location: (TBA)
Lecture Language: While the plenary sessions will be held in English, panels can be held either in English, Romanian or Tatar (or its related Central Asian languages).
Structure: ALECLA 2018 seminars are organized by individual members around topics of their own choosing.
Most papers are grouped into twelve-person seminars that meet two hours per day for three days of the lecture to foster extended discussion. Some eight-person (or smaller) seminars meet just the first two days of the lecture. Depending on space availability, we may also consider accepting a limited number of one-day seminars, especially if they are innovative either in presentation format or in terms of theme.
Seminar Proposals: Our website will open for seminar submissions on October 16th, 2017, with a deadline of November 12th, 2017, at 23:59 GMT. Seminar proposals are welcome in English, Romanian, Tatar.
Paper Proposals: Abstract submissions through our website will open November 13th, 2107 and close December 10th, 2017, at 23:59 GMT. Papers are welcome in the language of the seminar.
Roster Proposals: Seminar organizers will review all submitted papers and propose their rosters by December 17th, 2017, at 23:59 GMT.
No roster may have more than two participants from the same institution and no more than 50% graduate students. Ideally, all seminars should aim at a balance of scholars from different stages of the profession.
Notification Due: Until January 31st, 2018, the Program Committee will review all submitted seminars for consideration for inclusion in the program.
