First International Conference on
Emerging Research Paradigms in Business and Social Sciences
22-24 November 2011
Venue: Movenpick Hotel , Dubai
The world as a whole and the UAE in particular has been emerging from the wrenching cataclysm that the Great Recession was. The UAE, however, has shown much resilience and it stands well-poised to take wing as the world economy begins to take flight. Academics can contribute much to this process both in terms of explaining why the world stumbled as well as in charting a path for the future. It is in this spirit that the conference is being held and in the expectation that emerging research paradigms will find expression at the ERPBSS conference.
The objective of this conference is to provide an opportunity for academics to discuss new concepts, progressive methodologies, embryonic approaches and innovative practices within the world of business and the wider social environment. Given that social enquiry is still a maturing field of educational study within this region, it is crucial that business systems, processes and structures are considered in conjunction with contributions from such contemporary fields of social enquiry as media studies, psychology, sociology and tourism education. This is indeed pertinent for understanding service sector economies and societies, as well as comprehending the future role of education as a strategy and contributor to a sustainable learning culture and environment.
Middlesex University Dubai will hold its First International Conference on Emerging Research Paradigms in Business and Social Sciences (ERPBSS) from 22-24 November, 2011 in Dubai, UAE. The theme of the conference is particularly apt for UAE and Dubai at many different levels. The UAE is seen as one of the top ten emerging nations in the world. Starting from its humble beginnings, the country has burst on to the world stage as a dynamic economy boasting of ultra-modern cities such as Abu Dhabi and Dubai, cities capable of being compared favourably in terms of social and physical infrastructure with some of the great cities of the world. The UAE is also an emerging centre in tourism, health, construction and many other areas. More significantly, it is staking its claim to be called a major educational centre in the region. With over 50 foreign universities present, the claim does have much credibility. Equally striking has been the large number of countries represented among the student population and faculty alike.
