Prof. Chong-Yung Chi, National Tsinghua University, Taiwan
Chong-Yung Chi (祁忠勇) received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California, in 1983. From 1983 to 1988, he was with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California. He has been a Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering since 1989 and the Institute of Communications Engineering (ICE) since 1999 (also the Chairman of ICE during 2002-2005), National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. He has published more than 220 technical papers (with citations more than 4000 times by Google-Scholar), including more than 80 journal papers (mostly in IEEE Trans. Signal Processing), more than 130 peer-reviewed conference papers, 4 book chapters, and 2 books, including a new textbook (432 pages), Convex Optimization for Signal Processing and Communications from Fundamentals to Applications, CRC Press, 2017 (which has been popularly used in an invited intensive (2 or 3 weeks) short course 15 times in 8 major universities in China since 2010 before its publication). His current research interests include signal processing for wireless communications, convex analysis and optimization for blind source separation, biomedical and hyperspectral image analysis.
