Topics/Call fo Papers

The emerging technologies on the Internet of Things, wearable devices,
cloud computing and data analytics offer the potential of acquiring
and processing tremendous amount of data from the physical world. More
and more people are engaged dynamically via multiple, heterogeneous ad
hoc networks while most networks are still running in isolation. It
becomes significant to analyze, understand, and utilize modern
heterogeneous ad hoc networks, in order to provide more intelligent
systems and cutting-edge applications to end users, who are typically
dynamically interconnected through wireless networks. Promising
computing paradigms and advanced technologies, relating to context
awareness systems, distributed smart sensing, heterogeneous big data
analytics, condition monitoring, and deep learning, etc., have been
increasingly developed and integrated into this cyber-physical world.
Despite the related technologies are advancing at an unprecedented
pace, many challenges remain in bridging the cyber and physical
worlds. For example:
How to acquire and aggregate distributed data across heterogeneous networks?
How to interpret data with diversified relations from physical-social systems?
How to establish models, networks, and understandings based on real world data?
How to offer intelligent applications and cognitive services to the end users?
How to protect privacy among different data sources and networked users?
These critical issues need to be addressed in a holistic and
multidisciplinary way. This issue on advances and Trends on Cognitive
Cyber-Physical Systems・aims at promoting and facilitating exchanges of
research knowledge and findings across different disciplines on the
design and investigation of future generation intelligent cyber
physical systems based on ad hoc network infrastructures. In addition,
this issue encourages and invites researches with great significance
and impact on:
1)Addressing the emerging trends and issues on cognitive
cyber-physical systems and services across various application
domains.
2) Investigating the challenges posed by the emergent cognitive CPSs
on networking models and services.
3) Providing fundamental theory, model, and methodology in
interpreting, aggregating, processing/analyzing data for intelligent
cyber-physical systems.
4) Exploring new functions and technologies to provide adaptive
services and intelligent applications for different end users.
