Creativity 2011 - Creativity Workshop in New York City
Topics/Call fo Papers
Creativity Workshops in New York, Crete, Barcelona and
Florence.
Spring and Summer Workshops 2011
The Creativity Workshop: Creative Writing, Drawing, Storytelling,
and Memoir
is dedicated to helping academics and educators from all fields
develop and
nurture creativity in their disciplines. Workshops are held in
inspiring
locations all over the world and are available for CEUs or 3
graduate level
credits from the University of Iowa and University of Arizona.
The Workshop is a professional development opportunity that
includes learning,
travel, graduate credits, and association with peers from all over
the world.
The Creativity Workshop was founded in 1993 by University of
Iowa Professor
(1985-2000) Shelley Berc and multimedia artist Alejandro Fogel.
The exercises and lectures by the instructors are aimed at
helping academics
and educators (and through them, their students):
- Develop creativity in disciplines as diverse as mathematics, art
and
creative writing, languages, and science.
- Recognize and nurture creativity in themselves and their
students.
- Focus on creativity as a process rather than a product that can
be a potent
way of thinking.
- Find inspiration in the everyday world and use it as a tool for a
lifetime
of learning.
- Get over writers block, be it essay writing, research, or creative
writing.
- Combat the fear of failure when exploring self expression and
new ideas.
- Use creative work in collaborative thinking, leadership,
teamwork, and to
foster mutual respect in the classroom.
- Engage and focus innate curiosity to meet pedagogical needs,
such as
problem-solving.
- Understand and use metaphorical thinking to establish links
between diverse
areas of knowledge.
Take advantage of a $200 Early Registration promotion for our
