ESANN 2011 - ESANN'11 special session on "Kernel methods for Structured Data"
Topics/Call fo Papers
The 19 th European Symposium on Artificial Neural Networks is a major
event for researchers in the fields of artificial neural networks,
machine learning, computational intelligence and related topics. It
will be held in Bruges (Belgium) from April 27-29, 2011. This year the
program committee has decided to include a special session on kernel
methods for structured data in the conference program.
Call for Papers
"Kernel Methods for Structured Data" - ESANN'11 Special Session.
In many applications areas, such as biology, chemistry, natural
language processing (just to name a few), data are represented in
structured form. Among all learning algorithms, kernel methods can
naturally deal with any type of input data, provided an appropriate
similarity function, the kernel function, has been defined on any pair
of objects of the domain. Recently, there has been an increasing
interest in the research community in kernel functions for structured
data (strings, trees, relational data just to name a few examples) and
particularly in kernels for graphs. However, due to the typical very
high dimensionality of such data, finding the right trade-off between
expressiveness and computational complexity poses severe challenges.
This special session looks for original contributions to the topic
(particular emphasis on kernels for graphs), as well as significant
applications of kernel methods to structured data.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Kernel algorithms for structured data
- Kernel functions for strings, trees, graphs and generally any non
vectorial data
- Efficient kernels or learning algorithms
- Significant applications of kernel methods to structured datasets
We kindly invite you to submit a paper to the special session.
Please note that this invitation does not guarantee that your
submission will be accepted: each paper will undergo to a rigorous
peer reviewing process.
Paper submission should be done exclusively through the ESANN portal
(http://www.dice.ucl.ac.be/esann/index.php?pg=submi...). The
submission deadline is the same as the one for regular papers, that is
November 24, 2010.
The deadline for notification of acceptance is January, 18, 2011.
Please notice that the authors of accepted papers should register (and
pay the registration fee) as any other participant to the conference.
If you have any questions concerning the special session, please do
not hesitate to contact us (see email address below).
More information about the Conference Program, accommodation
facilities and registration fees is available on the ESANN website
