The 12th Annual Meeting of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology
The 12th annual SPSP meeting will be held January 27-29, 2011, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in sunny San Antonio, Texas, right along the urban oasis of San Antonio’s Riverwalk. Since SPSP’s last visit to San Antonio, both the meeting and the Riverwalk have grown quite a bit! For example, the Riverwalk recently opened the "museum reach" extension, over a mile of new walking connections to both the San Antonio Museum of Art and the Pearl Brewery fine dining district, which includes many new restaurants ranging from the Locavore Farm to Table Café to fresh seafood at the Sandbar Fish House.

As usual, meeting activities will open on Thursday afternoon with the Presidential Symposium, followed by a Welcome Reception. Friday evening we welcome, best selling science author, Malcolm Gladwell who will be giving a plenary address. This year we have expanded the number of concurrent symposia to 11 and have organized the poster session thematically. We have also added a new format to our SPSP schedule, the "data blitz." We have invited 12 speakers who will each have five minutes to present their research findings. It is sure to be an exciting and fast-paced event!

Prior to the start of the SPSP conference, a number of independent preconferences will be held during the day on Thursday, January 27.

The cost of lunches are included in the registration fee, allowing us to picnic along the riverwalk or while perusing posters. San Antonio’s warm weather (San Antonio boasts over 300 days of sunshine per year, and January temperatures in the 60s), along with the many art, entertainment, and dining options along the riverwalk also mean there will be a host of options for all to enjoy -- even beyond the meeting.

The Meeting Committee is looking forward to this year’s meeting and we hope to see you there.

Wendi Gardner (Chair), Toni Schmader, and Cynthia Pickett
Andrew Elliot and Wendy Berry Mendes (Program co-chairs)
