The 19th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation, MED’11, will be held on the Corfu Island, Greece, at the Aquis Corfu Holiday Palace hotel. Corfu (Kerkyra) is an island in the Northern Ionian Sea, situated in the entry of the Adriatic sea and near the coasts of the mainland Greece. While visiting Corfu visitors will get the feeling that they have stepped back into time due to the wonderful Venetian architecture and quaint settlements throughout the island, while at the same time Corfu is a progressive island hosting many business, cultural and commercial events. Corfu is full of sites of historical interest, such as the Old Fortress, the New Fortress, the canon, Spianada Square (with its buildings) and Liston Promenade, and the Archaeological, Byzantine and Asian Art Museums in the capital town, as well as Achillion (Austrian Princess Sissy's Summer Palace) and the Monastery of Zoodochou Pigis in Paleokastritsa. The island also has many monasteries and churches worth visiting. During the summer months philharmonic orchestras perform at the lovely kiosk in Spianada Square.
