HCCN 2011 - International Workshop on Human-Centric Communications and Networking (HCCN)
Topics/Call fo Papers
Human-Centric Communications and Networking (HCCN) Workshop
In conjunction with The 7th International Wireless Communications Mobile Computing
Conference (IWCMC 2011)
http://iwcmc.org
1 Theme
Due to the vast utilization of Internet and mobile communications (i.e., mobile Internet), wide deployment of (mobile)
Internet and application/services makes the “information society” come true. The information transportation in (mobile)
Internet based information society is fundamentally different from packet transportation over today’s data network. The
fundamental difference comes up with the concept of “Human-Centric Communications and Networking” (HCCN):
(i) Nodes in networks are now users or individuals (or, agent in mathematical modeling).
(ii) Nodes in data networks are device-based with an IP address associated. But, users may not have unique (fixed)
identity and may be anonymous.
(iii) Packets are transported in data networks but messages are transported among users (note: a message here is not
exactly the message consisting of a number of packets as the definition in data networks).
(iv) A link between two nodes in a data network is well defined, but the link between two (Internet-based) users may not
and may possess complicated behaviors subject to further investigations.
(v) Traffics in data networks are well defined but traffics among users are based on human intelligence and cognitive
behaviors (cognitive psychology is one of the widest open areas in human knowledge).
The ultimate goal of this workshop is to fundamentally understand HCCN in theory and in practice, such that
state-of-the-art applications and services over Internet and mobile Internet can be achieved and breaking-through
technology might be possible. We will organize two 2 small sessions. In each session, five papers will be presented.
2 Topics
Authors are invited to submit previously unpublished papers to this workshop. Topics include, but are not limited to:
? The important issues to facilitate HCCN such as link level execution and energy-efficiency
? The construction of network models for HCCN, such as cooperation and information access
? The control of HCCN, such as broadcast/multicast or (game-based) information dynamics
? The human behaviors and intelligence in HCCN and social networks, such as trust/reputation
? The applications and services on top of HCCN, such as social networking services and value-added mobile
services
3 Important Dates
Paper Submission Deadline: 15 December 2010
Paper Acceptance Notification: 15 March 2011
Camera-ready Paper Submissions: 1 April 2011
Registration Deadline for Authors: 1 April 2011
