Important Dates:
Abstract and Full paper submission (Research/Industrial/Demo/Vision): March 12, 2017 ==> March 26, 2017
Notification: May 7, 2017
Conference: August 21-23, 2017

The International Symposium on Spatial and Temporal Databases (SSTD 2017) is the 15th event of a series of biannual symposia that discuss new and exciting research in spatial, temporal and spatio-temporal data management and related technologies with the goal to set future research directions. The primary focus of SSTD symposia is on original results in the areas of theoretical foundations, design, implementation, and applications of spatial and temporal database technology. SSTD also welcomes experience reports from application specialists and the commercial community that describe lessons learned in the development, operation, and maintenance of actual systems in practical and innovative applications. The goal is to exchange research ideas and results across academia, industry and government from diverse geographies, and career stages.
***
SSTD 2017 will be held in the Washington, D.C. area at the George Mason University campus in Arlington, Virginia, USA.
***
Authors are invited to electronically submit original, English-language research contributions or experience reports not concurrently submitted elsewhere. Categories of invited submissions can be found below. Submitted papers will be refereed by at least three reviewers for quality, correctness, originality, and relevance. Similar to the previous symposia, accepted papers will be published by Springer as proceedings in Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS). Details about the conference, dates, and submission can be found at http://www.sstd2017.org/.

The SSTD 2017 invites original submissions in the following categories (tracks):
***
Research Papers:
Authors are invited to submit original research contributions or experience reports not concurrently submitted elsewhere.
The space limit for research papers is 18 pages, LNCS style.
***
Industry Track Papers:
In this track, authors are invited to submit papers that describe original experiences, challenges, systems, and applications in industry to be presented during the conference.
The space limit for industrial papers is 18 pages, LNCS style.
***
Demonstration Papers:
Demo submissions should have a maximum of 5 pages in LNCS format and will be included in the proceedings. Up to 4 pages are to be used to describe the scientific background, and one additional page should describe the nature of the demonstration that will be given at SSTD 2015.
A submission should include the motivation for the demonstrated concepts, information about the technology and the system to be demonstrated (including a system description, functionality and figures when applicable), and a justification of the system's significance.
***
Vision & Challenge Papers:
For this track we encourage you to submit short papers (maximum of 4 pages in LNCS format) containing revolutionary and visionary ideas in the area of spatial, temporal, and spatio-temporal data management. The Computing Research Association's Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is sponsoring awards for the top three papers ($1000 awarded as travel grants for each of them) under their CCC Blue Sky initiative (http://www.cra.org/ccc/visioning/blue-sky). Vision/Challenge submissions should have with the following properties:
- The ideas proposed within your paper will likely guide research in the near future
- Your thoughts challenge existing assumptions that are prevalent in the research community
- You identify novel applications and technology trends that create new research challenges
While an exhaustive evaluation of the proposed ideas is not necessary, insight and in-depth understanding of the issues is expected. Accepted contributions will be presented at a special session during the symposium and will be included in the proceedings of SSTD 2017.
