The 1st IEEE International Workshop on Federated Networking, Clouds and IoT
FeNCI 2017
May 29, 2017, Hong Kong, China
http://fenci2017.unime.it
To be held in conjunction with the
Third IEEE International Conference on Smart Computing (SMARTCOMP 2017)
Federation of resources enables network operators, cloud providers and IoT infrastructure owners to collaborate and share their resources to create a large virtual pool of resources at multiple locations, across different owners and tenants. To support this scenarios, it is necessary to perform research on techniques to federate networks, Clouds and IoT resources, enabling the instantiation, provisioning and migration of logical resources across geographically dispersed testbeds and sites, and to derive the integrated management layers that enable an efficient and secure deployment of federated networks, Clouds and IoT applications. The aim of this workshop is to allow researchers to present their latest research results on federation techniques and approaches, including SD* paradigms and technologies, Edge/Cloud computing, cross-domain orchestration and workload engineering, federated smart infrastructure use cases and applications, including but not limited to the following topics:
- Cloud, network and IoT federation models and architectures
- Cross-Datacenter/Cloud SDNs
- Function Virtualization for Networking and IoT in Edge/Cloud federations
- Smart Datacenter interconnect and brokering solutions
- Traffic and Workload engineering for Edge/Cloud federations
- Cloud-based IoT federation
- Overlay networks and VPNs
- Security in federated infrastructure environments
- Geographic location-aware high availability and elasticity
- Federated microservice-based applications
Both review articles and original research papers related to federating networks, Clouds and/or IoT resources are solicited. There is particular interest for papers with practical experiences, working solutions and experimental results with respect to building bridges across infrastructure silos, and enabling multi-owner administration and multi-tenant usage scenarios.
Submission Guidelines
Paper submissions should be no longer than 6 pages with a font size of 10 using the IEEE conference template. Papers must be submitted electronically as PDF files. All submitted papers will be subject to peer reviews by Technical Program Committee members and other experts in the field. All presented papers in the conference will be published in the proceedings of the conference and submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Authors are requested to first register their submissions and submit their manuscripts in PDF format via EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=smartcomp2...), selecting the "First International Workshop on Federated Networking, Clouds and IoT" track during submission process. Please, note that at least one author of each accepted paper must register and attend the workshop to present the paper. Failure to present the paper at the workshop will result in the withdrawal of the paper from the Proceedings.
