futureinstruments 2010 - 2010 Future of Instrumentation International Workshop

Each year there are a variety of meetings and conferences that pertain to various aspects of sensors, automation, instrumentation and applications. In many of these meetings there tends to be a look over the horizon as to what’s coming with the bulk of the meeting/conference describing past and current efforts.

The Goal of this Workshop: A focus on the Future of Instrumentation. With instrumentation embedded into an expansive array of applications (biotech, medical, astronomical, industrial, consumer, etc) we are striving to bring an array of technologists, analysts, business leaders to investigate the impact of current trends in instrumentation technology on application areas including those already mentioned as well as the electric grid, renewable energy sources, modular reactor technologies, intelligent building controls, energy efficiency, and related topics.

Why participate? This is your opportunity to intersect the leaders who are at the forefront of Instrumentation for Industry, Government, Academia. You will encounter technologies (and technologists) who you may wish to foster a collaborative relationship with; learn about government and private-sector funding opportunities; broaden your horizon as to cross-cutting technologies that are developed in one instrumentation sphere but have applicability in another area. Such technologies include, sensing technologies, embedded computing and systems, integrated instrumentation systems, top-to-bottom cyber security methodologies, and trustworthy sensors.

Presentations: Please consider submitting an Abstract for presentation. The submissions will be peer-reviewed and combined into a bound, referenced, published book. For individuals who would like more time to describe their activities, consider submitting your Abstract topic for Poster Presentation.

A Visit to Oak Ridge National Laboratory: Incorporated into the Workshop are tours of ORNL facilities with special focus on key ORNL developments in their pursuit of advanced instrumentation technology and application.

The Price is Right: We are a group of industrialists, scientists, technologists striving to examine trends in Instrumentation. We’re after applying Instrumentation for a variety of applications. CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
In keeping with the workshop format, interested parties are encouraged to submit extended abstracts (up to 4 pages) by the September 30, 2010 deadline. Accepted abstracts will be scheduled for twenty minute presentations plus five-ten minutes to allow maximum interaction and discussion between participants
