Scope
By 2020, a new era in mobile and wireless communication will begin with the commercialization and the roll out of the fifth generation (5G) systems. 5G is expected to cover wide applications addressing various needs and applications ranging from Low Power-Wide Area networks and more generally Internet of Things (IoT) with needs of few bits per seconds and wide geographic areas coverage with delay tolerant communications to communications with gigabits per seconds with very low latency down to the millisecond. 5G is also expected to bring new paradigms and technologies at all the communication layers including mmWave communication, exploration and exploitation of new frequency bands, green communication and achieving an order of magnitude performance-energy efficient communications.
After the great success of the previous workshop which was awarded the best workshop in IWCMC 2016 conference, IWCMC-5G 2017 workshop is anticipated to attract a large number of high-quality papers. This workshop seeks original papers addressing research contributions that address future wireless communication techniques in 5G communications; and the challenges, ranging from theory to practice in designing the next generation mobile communication protocols. Technical papers should describe original research that is unpublished and not under review by any other conference/journal.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Advances in design IoT
- New waveforms for the IoT
- PHY and MAC novel protocols for IoT and Low Power-Wide Area Networks
- Cognitive Radio and Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) in 5G Communication
- Spectrum bidding and pricing for spectrum sharing
- Massive MIMO Communications and Dynamic Beamforming techniques
- Free Space Optical (FSO) communications
- HetNet, Femtocells and WiFi-LTE interworking
- Millimeter wave communications
- Green Communications in 5G
- Energy aware protocols and techniques
- Coordinated multipoint (CoMP) transmission and reception
- Device-to-Device Communications
- Cognitive spectrum access for Machine-to-Machine Communications.
- Simultaneous information and power transfer techniques
- Machine learning and adaptive techniques
- 5G applications, services and Testbeds
- Protocol design and optimization
- Physical layer security
- Multimedia support and QoS management
- MAC design and scheduling
- Cross-layer designs and techniques
- Security, robustness, and reliability
- Pricing models and regulatory policies
- Experimental prototyping and test-bed evaluation
- Application platforms and middleware
- Licensed/Unlicensed spectrum aggregation, LTE-U
- Advances in Cloud RAN, distributed MIMO
- Green Small cell networks, Resource allocation, scheduling and energy consumption
- Machine type communications in 5G
- Social-aware 5G networks
- Hybrid (Digital/Analog) beamforming
Submission Guidelines
Authors are invited to submit original papers of no more than 6 pages (standard IEEE proceedings, two-column, 10 pt font, etc.), including figures, tables, and references, in PDF format. Accepted papers will be published in the IWCMC16 conference proceedings, which will be submitted to IEEE Xplore database. Submission implies that at least one of the authors will register and present the paper at the conference. Electronic submission is accepted through the EDAS web site at https://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=22770.
