The conference will be held at Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal University, Manipal, Karnataka, India. Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal was established in the year 1957 as one of the first pioneering self ? financing Engineering Colleges in the country. In 2000, it became a constituent institute of the Deemed University- Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), which is known widely today as Manipal University. Manipal University is synonymous with excellence in higher education. With a total student intake of about 2000 per year, and around 10,000 students, over 622 faculties, over 1,000 support staff, over 26,900 alumni, MIT provides the right ambience and platform for the students' all round development. It has the requisite student to teacher ratio of 15:1. MIT has 16 under graduate programs, 25 Masters Programs and Doctoral programs in all streams of Engineering and Science under 18 different departments. To promote innovation, incubation and entrepreneurship, the Innovation Center at MIT houses Manipal University Technology Business Incubator and Central Instrumentation Facility. The institute undertakes sponsored research programmes supported by funding agencies such as DST, CSIR, AICTE and the Ministry of Environmental Sciences. It has collaborative research programs in association with premier research laboratories and institutes in India and abroad. The institute has an innovative flexible syllabus based programs that involve participation of all stakeholders like management, academia, students, alumni, industry to discuss updating of the course contents in a continual process.
GETTING TO MANIPAL UNIVERSITY
Manipal is well connected by road, rail and air. There are two main cities close to Manipal that serve as entry points, Udupi and Mangalore. Udupi is 5 kms from Manipal and Mangalore 65 kms away.
Flying in: The nearest airport is Mangalore which is one and half hours drive by road. There are daily domestic flights from Mumbai and Bangalore. Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Spice Jet fly to Mangalore. There are direct international flights to Mangalore from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Doha Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait. Prepaid taxis are available at the Mangalore airport.
By road:Manipal is well connected with the major cities in Karnataka, Kerala, Goa, etc. Buses run between Mangalore and Manipal frequently. Direct buses are also available from Bangalore, Goa, Hyderabad, Mumbai and other cities.
By train: The closest railway stations are at Udupi (2 kms from Manipal) and Mangalore (65 kms from Mangalore). These railway stations lie on the Konkan route connecting the north and the south along the west coast. Delhi and Mumbai (to the north) and Ernakulam (to the south) are linked to Udupi station. Mangalore station is connected to Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Calicut, Cochin, Trivandrum, Mumbai and other major cities. Those traveling from Kolkata will have to travel via Chennai/Mumbai/Bangalore/Goa and then take a connecting train to Mangalore. There is also a train operating from Jammu to Mangalore once a week.
