Special Session on Trust and Access Control for the Internet of Things
Wednesday March 8, 2017 in Paris, France ? in conjunction with the 20th ICIN Conference on Innovations in Clouds, Internet and Networks, ICIN 2017.
---
This special session aims to gather motivated researchers and developers to discuss on these topics by sharing their feedbacks along with innovative ideas.
---
Access Control (AC) is a key issue to enable a secure and trustworthy Internet of Things. But where and how should AC be exercised in the Internet of Things? Many mechanisms have already been specified to control the access toward software systems, as for example ACL, ABAC or RBAC. However, the Internet of Things is bringing fresh requirements. IoT access control mechanisms should be able to address a large number of devices, potentially with low computing, storage and energy capabilities, by taking into account both the interactions triggered by a human and those occurring automatically between objects or with cloud-based services. Automation of AC mechanisms where devices are able to authorize access requests from external devices and users is one of the requirements. Simplicity is another key requirement so the whole system can remain easily manageable by people. These requirements among many others has to be embedded from the beginning to setup stable and secure IoT systems. Standards may be here needed to ensure such a trustable system composed with objects or services coming from different providers and potentially involving multiple persons (e.g. family, working team, etc.).
---
Prospective authors are invited to propose their contributions (title and abstract) by email to Dr. Emmanuel Bertin: emmanuel.bertin-AT-orange.com. Selected contributions will be presented and discussed at the special session. Each presenter will have to register to the ICIN conference, benefiting from the author rate. See details on http://www.icin-conference.org. All the presented contributions will be published in the proceedings of the ICIN conference as a 3-pages short paper. ICIN being technically co-sponsored by IFIP, IEEE and IEEE ComSoc, papers should be formatted according the to the usual IEEE double column template.
